In January-July, Việt Nam exported 164,357 tonnes of pepper, comprising 145,330 tonnes of black pepper and 19,027 tonnes of white pepper, with total export revenue reaching $764.2 million, up 40.8 per cent.
Viet Nam’s pepper export turnover in 2021 is estimated to reach the highest level since 2018 thanks to higher export prices, but the global pepper market development looks set to be unpredictable in 2022.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has not discovered price manipulation from foreign traders in the pepper market following Viet Nam’s Pepper Association (VPA)’s blame.
Viet Nam''s pepper industry plans to focus on improving quality to ensure
long-term growth and satisfy demand from import markets, an official of
the Viet Nam Pepper Association (VPA) has said.
